“I had a truly happy stay at Beck Steps 1.”
Everything was comfortable and well thought out. The shower was glorious, the bed very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked, with everything beautifully clean. I utterly loved my time there.
I was on my own for most of the week. My husband drove me up but had to leave at the weekend. I am disabled with a deformed spine which leaves me almost bent double with mobility problems. I walk with a wheeled walker. The one thing that had concerned me was the stairs, and when I saw them I thought ‘uh oh, here we go!’ They are steep with a curve. But I found them solid , with steps of a good width and after the first day I became cheerfully adept at mountaineering. On thing I would suggest is that a small hand grab rail at the top of the stairs would be reassuring and would help all sorts of people, the older ones, pregnant ones or even the ones who have had one happy pint too many!, without looking like a disability aid.
As an older disabled woman without a car the location was perfect, with local Co op and easy access to the whole of Grasmere and buses on the doorstep.
To sum up, the whole experience was lovely, lovely, lovely!
