“Woodland Lodge rightly deserves it's perfect score.”

The owners clearly want you to enjoy your stay, and this shines through from the moment you unlatch the little gate to enter. We found the location to be very peaceful and my wife loved the woodland decor both inside and outside the property. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, the towels and linen provided were smart and fresh. I agree with the principle of a good housekeeping deposit, to ensure the accommodation maintains it's high standard. We hope to return later in the year.

“First time using Sykes and won’t be the last, for sure.”

I worked in the travel industry my whole working life and always take a negative view from start to finish of the booking procedure through to information given, how accurate is it, property condition, back up services etc etc and have say with my mind set I found nothing whatsoever to find. The Lodge was spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, information provided by Sykes was spot on, EXCELLENT in all phases. To explain I was a Partner/Director and travelled extensively around GB, Europe, North America and much more and beyond. Now retired my intention is to explore, see, sample more of our own HOMELANDS. No more Aircraft’, no more bland hotels, no more Airports! I started saying first time with Sykes and won’t be the last Please pass sincere thanks to your staff, owner and all others Thanks again

“A lovely cottage/lodge in peaceful location.”

Clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. (I've never slept so well in a "strange" bed ever, and I used to travel lots with work). The location is ideal for touring the southern lakes and the coast with plenty of lovely walks in the area. I use the Walking World App but there are several in the info pack (pink sheets). Also very handy for the 2 minute through to The Woodland Hotel for a drink or to eat. We would definitely stay here again.......although I would like better weather next time.

We were out of the country straight after this stay and decided to stay off our phones for the duration of it. What else can I say apart from what a stunning property you have. The location is tremendous along with the uniqueness of the property. The furnishing of the place was second to none, especially the fantastic bed and shower! The place felt so airy and spacious it truly exceeded our expectations (which were high anyway!) Thank you so much again for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous holiday home. You have really ignited our passion for the lake district and we will definitely be back. “Lovely cottage and nicely hidden from the world, good facilities and there was a nice selection of bits already supplied.”

The only thing to note is that there is a water limit for hot water a day so if you like to shower late just be mindful of this. Overall a great stay for me and my partner, thank you!

Very clean and cosy. Everything was to a high standard. Loved the bed and bedding so comfortable, best nights sleep in a long time! Such a peaceful area with lovely walks from the doorstep. Especially loved walking onto Grange-Over-Sands for a stroll along the promenade. The owners have done a lovely job of making the cottage a home from home! Thankyou! “The Woodland Lodge was presented exactly as the the images showed.”

When does that happen? It was in immaculate condition and beautiful throughout. The attention to detail by our hosts were second to none and the facilities provided were above and beyond our expectations. The location of the lodge was in a quiet woodland area to the side of a main grand looking house. It was private and secluded, tucked away in a corner. During our 1 week stay we saw 1 or 2 couples in the area. Our hosts kindly allowed us to charge our electric car from their outside socket, though I could only get 2 volts (had to knock down the voltage to ensure I didn’t trip the lodge), it proves our hosts are happy to accommodate our wishes. Believe me, a lot of hosts wouldn’t allow this out of fear and the unknown of EV energy consumption (as an FYI, less than running a hot tub for a week or a Power Shower). Sorry, I digress, but the accommodation of our EV charging is worth noting as this was a big factor in our search for accommodation in the area. So even though it wasn’t “officially” listed as EV friendly, after asking during our initial enquiry, our hosts certainly were accommodating and I thank them for this. Look at me, I’m still digressing! Let me wrap up by saying our Woodland lodge stay has to be one of the best holidays we’ve had in this country for a very long time. It felt homely, modern and traditional. This is truly a “gem” to find and we will be recommending it to friends and family who choose to stay in the Lake District.

“Just back from a week at Woodland Lodge.”

The standard and cleanliness of this lodge is outstanding. The decor is very light and modern, the bed is the most comfiest we have ever slept in, there’s a recliner sofa and a rocking chair, we were surrounded by home comforts. The kitchen is very well equipped, I took my own cleaning equipment (just in case!) but the place was spotless and had a cupboard full of stuff supplied for our use. The bathroom is gorgeous with plenty of hot water. The outside area is spacious with a table and chairs and a massive umbrella. The surrounding area is woodland and very peaceful. A walk into Grange on Sands is down a lovely track, about 2 miles, and has lovely views of Morecambe bay. Cartmell is also close, it’s a beautiful village with the racecourse in the centre, well worth a visit. We used the Lakeside and Haverthwaite railway (Steam train) with a boat ride to Ambleside included. Fell Foot Park was also another highlight. We also visited Grasmire and Keswick. All in all we had a lovely visit to the Lake District, knowing that our lovely welcoming Lodge was waiting for our return from a busy day out. We would recommend Woodland Lodge 100%.

However, this cottage was everything we could have hoped for. Well equipped, immaculately clean, a lovely situation in the middle of the forest, and near enough to a small hotel if we wanted a bit of company. “Fantastic stay!”

Had all the amenities required, such a comfy and cosy place to come back to when you have been out for the day. Plenty of places to visit locally such as Bowness, Ambleside, Grasmere etc. Locked out bikes away in the storage shed and didn’t have to worry about them. Would love to stay again!

Grange-over-Sands 2.7 miles. Resting on private grounds and surrounded by charming woodland on the outskirts of Grange-over-Sands in the Lake District National Park is Woodland Lodge, a quaint lodge that provides the perfect couple's retreat for those wanting to explore the South Lakeland District. Park your car in one of the two parking spaces beside the property,and head up the set of steps onto the decking, where you will find the entrance. Step inside the property into a small porch, where you can hang your coats and kick off your walking boots, before moving into the bright and airy open-plan living space. The galley-style kitchen provides ample worktop space to prepare ingredients, as well as a host of useful appliances to enable you to whip up delicious meals for your loved one, which you can enjoy together at the intimate dining table for two, before moving to the reclining leather sofa and kicking back beside the warming electric fire with a glass of wine and your favourite show on the TV. Retire to the king-size double bedroom to catch up on rest, beautifully presented and stylishly furnished to provide a calming and relaxing space with gorgeous Egyptian cotton bedding. The contemporary shower room allows you to prepare for each day with a rejuvenating rinse, while the heated towel rail warms up your towels and provides additional comfort. Spend your morning on the patio, admiring the peaceful woodland area as you enjoy a cup of coffee, before heading out to explore the surroundings. The Woodlands Hotel is close by with a pub, where you can grab a bite to eat and enjoy a glass of wine or refreshing pint after a long day of walking. The Cumbrian Way goes past Woodland Lodge, with cycle ways also close by. Head to the charming Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands, situated between the fells of the Lake District and Morecambe Bay, and stroll along the delightful promenade, while the ornamental gardens provide a beautiful backdrop for a picnic. There are two golf clubs to choose from, one only 5 minutes away, should you wish to practice your swing, along with a range of shops to explore and a selection of friendly pubs. Nearby Cartmel offers a fantastic day out at its racecourse, which hosts several events throughout the year, Holker Hall boasts 200 acres of gardens, woodland and even a deer park, and you can round off a special day with a romantic meal at L'Enclume, which has been voted one of the best restaurants in the UK. The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK.
