    “We had a lovely holiday.”

..just the break we needed. The bed was comfortable, everywhere was clean and the owner was very friendly. The kitchen had a freezer as well as a fridge, which was useful, because with being under Covid restrictions, we took a lot of food with us, so we had plenty of storage.

The kitchen had a freezer as well as a fridge, which was useful, because with being under Covid restrictions, we took a lot of food with us, so we had plenty of storage. The only reason I have given 9 out of 10 is because the electric lighting is very dim, but otherwise, everything was fine.

About the location

NEWBY

Appleby 8 miles; Penrith 8 miles.

The charming old village of Newby sits in a secluded location in the Eden Valley, between the northern Pennines and the Lake District. Newby, with its better-known neighbours of Appleby and Penrith, is surrounded by lovely rolling landscapes and is often described as having a special, unchanging beauty. The village itself is surrounded by open fields, supporting cattle, sheep and horses. The nearby market town of Penrith offers a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, a cinema and swimming baths. Why not visit the Rheged Discovery Centre in Penrith, or nearby Lowther Castle Gardens and Bird of Prey Centre? Ullswater, with frequent cruises from Pooley Bridge, is eight miles away or you may like to visit Appleby, famous for its annual horse fair and a stop on the Settle-Carlisle railway. This is an ideal holiday location.
