“Pine Lake Resort is very easily accessible from the M6, yet it is very peaceful, and you can’t hear the motorway.”
There’s everything you want on site, including a gym, sauna, and swimming pool, and of course the beautiful lake.
Our cabin was situated on the waters edge, and we were looking forward to getting out on our paddleboards or having a leisurely swim. However, despite a previous conversation with the resort staff several weeks before we arrived when we were told we could use the lake for our leisure, upon arrival we soon found out that swimming/paddle boarding/kayaking were in fact not permitted on the lake due to large fish like pike in the water. You can imagine our disappointment, which was made even worse at the sight of the water sports centre across the lake from us that were hiring out kayaks and promoting all water sports despite the dangers of the pike!! Clearly the fish weren’t an issue, it’s just a business that wouldn’t do too well if everyone had brought their own kayaks and boards…………….
Check in wasn’t until 4pm, which gave us time to drive to the beautiful lake Windermere and have a walk around: it was gloriously sunny, and we were amazed by the stunning views and calmness of the lake. When we got back to the cabin, we were disappointed by the state of the balcony and outside furniture which was filthy, and we had to spend half an hour giving it a good clean and sweep down, although there were far too many cobwebs for us to tackle. Having said that, the interior was very clean and tidy. Everything we needed was provided, from kitchen utensils to fresh towels, TV with Freeview, DVD player, microwave, kettle, etc etc. The bed was very comfy and there were extra sheets and pillows if needed.
Despite our initial disappointment, we had a fantastic stay: it was very peaceful and lovely to sit and look out onto the lake. We would recommend staying here but if you’re expecting to have some fun in the water without paying for the privilege, I’d look elsewhere…………
