    • “Excellent place to stay to explore the Lake District and surrounding area.”

    • “Beautiful cottage, clean, tidy, well equipped with everything from DVDs, games for the children and Tupperware to take your picnic in! Extra logs for the log burner are available with an honesty box so no shopping needed for extra logs. Set in a quiet small village with a friendly local pub serving a great value food and children's menu. Great value for money, would return to this wonderful cottage.”

    • “Beautiful cottage”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “We had a really enjoyable christmas in this beautiful cottage. Everything was spotless. Comfy bed, cosy lounge. Lovely area even with the river raging through. We explored Coniston, Windermere, plus many other places. The food in the village serves delicious food and enormous helpings. We are planning on returning to this cottage in the near future. We loved the xmas decorations and thank you for the card and welcome gift. We had booked to take our dog but decided to leave her at home with family, I am glad we did because the weather was awful and I would have worried over the lovely carpets etc. The only problem we had was with the back door it doesn't unlock from the outside which is a shame as it leads into utility room which is perfect for muddy boots and paw as etc. We could only enter the property through front door. Thank you so much for a perfect restful holiday.”

    • “Not only did the description of the accommodation on line meet of expectations, it exceeded them. This is a fabulously well appointed and charming little cottage, set in an equally charming village. Our reason for picking this place was principally that it was dog friendly, but also that it was close enough to the main attractions of the South Lakes, without being right in them. Clean, comfortable and well laid out, it ticked all the right boxes. It was also serviced by a very helpful lady who had the fore thought to turn the heating up a notch prior to our arrival, as it was a little on the cool side back then.”

    • “Lovely cottage and surrounding area. Two pubs within walking distance - one of which did not serve food until end of May but the other pub was very popular and we could not get a table in the restaurant on a Saturday night without a reservation, although we did enjoy scampi and chips in the bar at a reasonable price. The people we met in the village were very friendly. I would only echo the sentiment regarding the soft beds and the noisy heating but these are very minor points and did not affect our enjoyment of the cottage.”

    • “Excellent cottage, very well decorated and lovely location”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “This is a lovely cottage with ample room for a family of four. It has been furnished and decorated to a very high standard. It is a little way from the house to the lakes and a car is essential. There is a reserved parking space to the rear, but roadside parking is allowed. Easy access to the south lakes and good road links for exploring. A dog is allowed in the property at an extra charge. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and would not hesitate to book there again.”

    • “Comfortable and relaxing home for a week!”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “Initially we were a little worried by the arrival procedure for the cottage, it seemed very vague and made us slightly wary, but, it was actually a very smooth and efficient way. The cottage was (as advertised) very easy to find and the instructions we were given were very easy to follow. We were extremely pleased with the presentation of the cottage, the decor is simple yet homely and we were provided with everything we could have possibly needed. The welcome pack was in an easy to see place and included helpful advice on the nearest amenities etc... The cottage itself was kept immaculately, both the bathrooms and the kitchen were hygienic and ready for our arrival. We had requested a travel cot for our newborn baby and this was provided with brand new, unused bedding. Our only issue with this was there was not much space for the cot and it had to be erected under a window, which was a little drafty. We visited the pub just on the road twice during our stay, for a lunch and dinner and the food was delicious, reasonably priced and quick - we would recommend at least one visit here. The nearby town of Ulverston (10/15 mins drive) is also delightful and has a range of quaint shops alongside more conventional convenience stores (Co-op and Tesco). The people of both Spark Bridge and Ulverston made us feel very welcome, and everyone we came across were both polite and friendly. The only negative aspects of our break would be, that from the cottage there is not really much of a view, but you only have to step out of the front door and cross the road to be on the river edge. And the ghastly hum of the water system, but after a couple of days we had acquainted ourselves with that also. The bed in the master bedroom is also very very soft! These were minor issues in what was a really lovely week.”

    • “A really very pleasant cottage in a quiet village with a great pub. Only a few miles away from the the lakes attractions, but away from the main tourist routes. Cottage is immaculate and totally equipped, even towels and tea towels.”

    • “Last minute break”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “We booked a very last minute family break at the cottage. The ch (4 yrs & 15 months) had plenty to keep them entertained and really enjoyed paddling in the nearby river. The cottage was well equipped and the option to clean and dry clothes was an added bonus. The travel cot was large which was great and my 4 year old loved the bunk bed. The only hitch was the window seat which my 15 month year mastered how to open. Overall a great short break thank you”

    • “It was gret to know we had everything we needed in the cottage. The log fire was great to have and to have an unlimited supply of wood was an unexpected bonus. I almost wanted it to rain all week so we could stay in the cottage. We had so much to do if we needed it, It was alos a nice surpise to know we had Amazon and Netflix paid for. If you were snowed in, you would be quite happy to stay in the cottage with all the games and facilities available. Couldnt fault it, it must be the best cottage we have stayed in.”

    Mr Hoop, Leeds, October 2018

    • “Beautiful cottage with good furnishings, quality kitchenware and linen. The only let down was the local pub, looks lovely from the outside, but the interior let it down together with the opening hours and lack of food, which was due to their supplier letting them down.”

    Mrs Ambler, DUNS, September 2018

    • “The cottage was very clean and comfy , a good location for the south lakes. We had a nice time at the cottage, with the local pub just a short walk away. Just what we needed.”

    Mrs Capella, Birmingham, September 2018

    • “The cottage and location were both beautiful. My family and I loved it! The cottage is very clean and nicely decorated and equipped in a successful fusion of modern and traditional. The local pub is also very nice, quality food in a welcoming atmosphere. We would 100% recommend Laurel Cottage and Sykes.”

    Mr Walker, Manchester, August 2018

    • “We had a lovely relaxing week. The cottage had everything we needed, was lovely that it was so close to the pub”

    Mrs Sugden, Leeds, June 2018

    • “Enjoyed our return visit to Laurel Cottage. New Smart TV is a great bonus. Very comfortable cottage, with everything that could be needed. Just one thing - please ensure that the directions are amended. They currently tell you to cross the dual carriageway and head for Lowick. This is not now the case, there is a roundabout, so should turn right for Greenodd. Lowick is not mentioned at all on any of the road signs, so very confusing in the directions.”
