Why book a cottage in Buttermere?
The small hamlet of Buttermere can lay claim to being one of the prettiest locations in the Lake District. Situated in the Buttermere Valley, the area is surrounded by dramatic fells and mountains and possesses three lakes - Buttermere, Crummock Water and Loweswater. It is a beautiful landscape that is very popular with outdoor enthusiasts; with a range of walks on offer through woodlands, alongside cascading waterfalls and around the lake. Follow the footpath up to the summits of Haystacks and Red Pipe, where you will be rewarded with superb views across the valley.
Buttermere has a small church and a couple of traditional team rooms, but for anyone wanting to eat out or shops and amenities Cockermouth and Keswick are only a fifteen-minute drive away.
